Nxamaseri Island Lodge

Nxamaseri Island Lodge is a unique African experience on an island in the permanent waters of Botswana’s Okavango Delta. A small exclusive lodge, and one of the oldest in the delta, it has six double en-suite chalets, each secluded in indigenous forest and each with a private deck overlooking the water. Teak walkways link the rooms to the main area of the lodge.

Nxamaseri Island Lodge is among Botswana’s prime fishing destinations. Here the tigerfish, one of the world’s most dramatic game fish, provides thrilling angling for both experienced and novice fishermen. Apart from the tigerfish, there are another eight species that may be caught at Nxamaseri.

The lodge offers lure fishing but specializes in fly-fishing. The lodge pioneered fly-fishing in the Okavango waters and remains the premier fly-fishing destination in Botswana. The lodge can supply all lure fishing and limited fly-fishing equipment so it is recommended you bring your own.

Rain falls in Botswana from late November through to February, with some rain falling in March. Average daily temperatures are around 86 degrees F. Rainfall usually takes the form of a short afternoon shower with plenty of time to enjoy sunshine in between. Evenings remain warm but it is advisable to bring light-weight long pants and long sleeved shirts for protection from the mosquitoes.

The dry season runs from April through to October. The hottest and driest month is October just prior to the rainfall. It is during the winter months of May, June and July that the annual floodwater enters Botswana from Nambia and makes it’s way down the panhandle to the swamps and eventually dissipates into the Kalahari sands. At Nxamaseri the water is at it’s highest and clearest in June and July. Temperatures during these winter months average around 72 degrees but evenings can get cold

All chalets are en-suite with hot and cold running water, mosquito nets and have private decks overlooking the Nxamaseri channel.
